Clothing demand more than doubled between 2000 and 2018
Driven by the increased middle class, shorter fashion cycles and garment life.
For every 1 tone of garments reused as opposed to directed to landfill, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 7 tones. Being sustainable and driving a real change towards clothing and ecological integrity is a huge focus for us.
- Green Global recognizes the responsibility of reducing
- Protecting the environment
- The inherent high value of pre-loved apparel
- Wherever possible, that nothing of value goes to waste.
SUSTAINABILITY
Green Global– is the outcome of a coalition dedicated to boosting standards within the recycling sector. It has the backing of many Green Global shops across the United Kingdom and was formed many years ago by representatives of the renowned organization, Green Global, charity retail chains, academics, waste reduction charities, textile recyclers, and input from the Environment Agency, the WISH (Waste Industry Safety and Health) Forum and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.
Green Global new ground-breaking, expert-led initiative, harnessing the knowledge and expertise of UK leaders in sustainability to accelerate the whole fashion and textiles industry’s move towards circularity and system change in the UK.
The new voluntary agreement builds on the learning and success of the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan 2020 (SCAP 2020) and aims to engage the majority of UK fashion and Green Global organizations in collaborative climate action.
